Dr. Carlos Reynes

dr-carlos-reynesDr. Carlos Reynes was traditionally trained as an internal medicine physician. Early in his career, however, he came to a difficult realization: his medical training was heavily focused on diagnosing disease and prescribing medications, with very little emphasis on preventing chronic illness or optimizing long-term human health.

Rather than accepting this limitation, Dr. Reynes has spent the last three decades seeking a deeper understanding of what true “healthcare” should be. That journey led him beyond symptom-based medicine and toward integrative and lifestyle medicine—what is now commonly referred to as Functional Medicine or “root-cause” medicine.

Over the past 30 years, he has combined conventional internal medicine with lifestyle medicine, advanced biomarker testing, and bioidentical hormone optimization to help patients restore vitality, resilience, and metabolic health—especially during midlife.

He is the founder and medical director of Integrative Therapies Wellness Center in Oak Park, Illinois where his philosophy is simple: lifestyle should be the first prescription, hormones should be optimized—not just replaced—and patients should be educated and empowered to take an active role in their health.

As a member of the Medical Advisory Board for the Institute of Bioidentical Medicine, Dr. Reynes brings a grounded clinical perspective shaped by decades of real-world patient care, emphasizing safety, personalization, and the integration of hormone therapy within a comprehensive lifestyle-based approach to longevity and wellness.
